Mrs.
Wanda Sutton (Kindergarten) always
creative, looks for ways in which a child can succeed. She is interested
in helping and equipping our future generation for their future, through
modern technology and the Word of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Mrs.
Sutton is a graduate of Georgia Southern College where she earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in language arts and a Bachelor of Science degree
in science education. Mrs. Sutton was approved for graduate study
provisional on December 18, 1975, and continued her education at the
University of Georgia. She received a Masters of Education major in
reading education and doctorate of education in curriculum and
supervision.
Mrs.
Sutton has a teaching certification as reading specialist for grades K-12,
and a special certification for curriculum and supervision. She has been a
dedicated teacher for 30 years. Mrs. Sutton finds teaching to be
challenging and unique. She continues to live, love and learn. In her
words, "I love teaching at Grace English Lutheran School. Here I am
part of and outstanding group of unique individuals."

Mr.
Carl E. Hoppe (Assistant Principal /Grades 1 & 2)
is starting his 29th year in the ministry. He
attended both Chicago Public Grade and High Schools on Chicago's
south side. Not until he attended Concordia Teacher's College, now
Concordia University, was he able to go to a Lutheran School. His desire
was to become a pastor, however the Lord guided him towards the teaching
ministry. Carl received his B.A. in Education and counseling. Later he
began working n his M.A. in Education at the same institution a few
years after receiving his degree.
He
has served at five other Lutheran Schools. They were Emmanuel, Ashville,
NC grades 1&2; Grace South, Chicago, grades 3 to 5 and principal;
St. Peter, Chicago, 3, 5 & 6 grades; and Timothy, Chicago grade 1.
Also due to departmentalization at these schools, he has worked with all
grade levels, except Kindergarten.
Mr.
Hoppe still has the aspiration to become a principal. Towards this end,
he has been involved in further studies and work for that position.
Presently though the classroom, teaching, and serving as Assistant
Principal are his first priorities.

Mrs.
Vicki J. Helmling (Grades 3, 4 & 5)
graduated from Concordia Teachers College, now Concordia University, in
River Forest. She has spent all her teaching career in urban Lutheran
schools of the Missouri Synod - 20 years in Chicago and 2 years in
Buffalo, New York.
Mrs.
Helmling taught the mid-level grades at Christ English Lutheran School
for 16 years, serving as principal for 5 years. She has also taught at
Grace-Karlov, Jehovah, Bethel and Our Savior-Norwood Park.
Mrs.
Helmling serves on the board of trustees for Luther North High School,
Chicago.

Mr.
Charles Novak (Principal, Grades 6,
7, & 8) is in his
29th year of teaching in
Lutheran schools of the Missouri Synod. He received both his BA
and MA degrees in Education from Northeastern Illinois University.
His concentrations were in music and reading respectively, with an
emphasis in statistics during his MA program.
He
has taught grades five through eight, and did his student teaching with
both elementary and secondary students. He is certified to teach
grades kindergarten through twelve and has an Endorsement in Reading
Education from the State of
Illinois.
Grace
English is the fifth congregation in which Chuck has been called to
serve. He is currently serving as both Principal for Grace School
and Bethel Lutheran School. Chuck has been principal for nine years,
now starting his seventh year at Grace.
